New report published

Shelby is pleased to announce that our report on the evaluation of the Child and Parent Centre Initiative, commissioned by the Department of Education, has been completed and released publicly. This $275,000 project was undertaken over two years and incorporated a realist approach to data collection tools and analysis. A realist approach acknowledges the role different contexts can play in supporting or otherwise impacting on the operation of different program mechanisms. It recognises that motivations, behaviours and contextual elements have a role in shaping how programs work and understand that programs work differently in different places.

Using a mixed-methods methodology, the evaluation collected data from annual site visits to 16 Centres across Western Australia with extensive 1-on-1 interviews and focus groups, as well as on-line qualitative and quantitative surveys. Stakeholders included parents, and staff from Centres, teachers and principals, service providers and non-government organisations. Shelby also reviewed and analysed comprehensive quantitative program data.

The report addresses evaluation questions and a comprehensive evaluation framework and can be download from the Department’s website or from our Publications Page.
