During 2006 while at Estill, Heather Aquilina was engaged by the Department of the Attorney General to evaluate the Management and Operational Structure of the Aboriginal Visitors Scheme, regarding the history, current functionality and future of the AVS. Details were sought regarding whether the original intent of the Scheme and the currently prescribed roles and functions, continued to be appropriate. Information was also required as to the appropriateness of the current AVS staffing and operational structure, and service delivery model. The evaluation highlighted factors that have impacted on the AVS since its commencement, and analysed and forecasted the demand and capacity requirements for the AVS.
The evaluation involved a desktop review and stakeholder interviews, including with the Commissioner of Corrective Services, the Director General of the Department of the Attorney General, and the Commissioner of Police, and with staff, visitors and inmates at two regional prisons.Back To Project List
