In 2014, Shelby completed a review of a suite of training programs funded by Department of Health in the area of sexual health and blood-borne viruses. We investigated alternative available training programs in WA and nationally as well as the training needs of Aboriginal health staff. We provided a comprehensive review of the courses and an up-to-date review of best practice in models of training and skills development. We supplemented this with broad stakeholder consultation and practitioner expertise on training needs for the different target roles. In addition, we considered the management and outsourcing aspects of the funded programs. The outcome was a comprehensive report with recommendations regarding the future direction and management of the program.
